Well, I've noticed a pattern with the TV behavior and observed it last night and this morning. If the TV is on for long enough, the snow thing eventually stops happening. It seems to happen when we first turn the TV on for about 15-20 minutes. So maybe we can limp by without having to buy a new one just yet. We'll see. I'd like to wait until we're able to pay for it directly rather than charging it.
It reminds me of my childhood when we had to turn on the TV a few minutes before we wanted to actually watch it so it had time to "warm up" and we had time to adjust the aluminum foil-tipped antennae to get a better signal.
