We're giving him Lysiene and using topical Benzoyl Peroxide daily for his eyes and face. These battles seem like they're just a matter of trying to maintain the status quo. His eyes have improved thanks to the Lysiene and the brushing his face with a flea comb followed by Benzoyl Peroxide have helped to keep his conditions at the improved levels, but so far we haven't seen any further improvement. But we'll take what we can get. He's definitely better off physically and emotionally now than he was 5 months ago. The cherry eye can only be addressed by surgery, and with all his conditions, the vet doesn't want to use anesthesia on him without a medical necessity. The cherry eye won't hurt him; it just looks unsightly.
Anyway, he has a healthy appetite and energy level and loves to play with his toys. There's another medication I read about in Cat Fancy that's supposed to be something new for cats with compromised immune systems. As soon as our vet can find out more information about it, she's going to let us know if it's an option for improving Buddha's immune system. Until then, it's just keep giving him Lysiene and treating the feline acne. Enjoy the pics!
