jamesbarrett has a fire at Ruby Tuesday where he works that's started by someone improperly disposing of a still-lit cigarette butt. Now, in reference to the huge fire in Richmond a couple of weeks ago, from the Times-Dispatch:
Fire officials have determined that the March 26 fire at an under-construction Virginia Commonwealth University apartment building was "an accidental incident" that started in a trash chute "in the vicinity of the second floor."
The fire, which began about noon at 933 W. Broad St., quickly swept through the five-story, wood-framed building and 26 nearby homes and buildings.
Investigators released a statement today saying that on the morning of the fire, "construction workers had been observed depositing trash and bags of debris containing sawdust, other combustible items and cigarette butts into an 'already jammed trash chute.'"
