Interesting scam e-mail sample
Apr. 13th, 2004 01:57 pmMy Mom received this e-mail yesterday. Fortunately, she's heard me warning her enough times about e-mail scams and Web frauds that she smelled the stink on it and forwarded it to me to research. I have to admit, at least they put a little more work into it than most of them do.
What my research has turned up so far:
Partick Vierra is a soccer (or football, if you're European) star.
It came from a free webmail account.
There is a place called Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire, which is in the Ivory Coast. (That wouldn't happen to be anywhere near Nigeria, would it?)
Societe Ivoirianne de Rafinage is actually spelled Societe Ivoirienne de Raffinage, at least according to Google.
I love the vague reference to the "political crisis."
The actual e-mail is behind ( this cut. )
