My Mom was finally able to call out last night. We weren't home, but she left a message. I talked to her this morning, and everyone's okay down there. They still won't have power for a while, and the local governments are talking about shutting off the water, but no one suffered any damages or was injured. Just some downed trees, but none of them hit the houses. They're coping by buying ice and running their generator to keep the refrigerator and freezer going. It's a bit of a hardship, but nothing compared to what it could have been.
