It was working well after the storms were gone. Something happened between 4:30 AM and 11 AM yesterday. So far, the diagnostics have said the optical drive isn't working, and the hard drive isn't working. Trying to boot gets me a black screen with an arrow cursor in the middle of it (after running chkdsk for the millionth time.
Further diagnostics reveal error code 2000-0146, which means it's something with the hard drive. The optical drive passes the test now. It's been wonky a long time.

Date: 2012-07-01 02:02 am (UTC)I am sorely tempted to get the next generation of the Macbook Pro and set it up as a Mac/Windows dual boot and run Ubuntu in a VM for real work stuff.
The $3400 price tag is the only reason I don't have one now :P
